Hey there everyone, boy have I got a treat for you today! I was able to corral one of your favorite authors for an interview! Today we’re chatting with Emily Murdoch. She’s got tons of fun and fascinating info for you, plus all the details on where to find her books and freebies!

First, tell us a little bit more about you. What made you become a writer?

I have always loved writing, and apparently I had to be encouraged (forced!) to stop writing stories in class at school! But it wasn’t until I was 20 that I took it seriously after my boyfriend of the time – now my husband! – encouraged me.

What do you love most about being a writer?

Creating journeys for my readers to go on. Not all of us will fall in love with a Duke, or be rescued by an Earl, or accidentally mistake someone for someone else and fall in love – but with my books, you can have all of those experiences and more.

What is something unique about you that not many people know?

Not many people know that I almost did a PhD in medieval education! It was a real passion of mine, but here in the UK you need to be awarded funding to take on a PhD, and I wasn’t able to get any. Just think how different my life could have been!

So let’s talk about your books. What do you have on offer? Steamy, sweet, series, standalone?

All my books are in series, so that readers can really get to know a family or a group of friends. As Emily Murdoch, I have three sweet series: medieval, Regency, and Western. As Emily E K Murdoch, I have one steamy Regency series – and I’m beavering away at two new series right now.

Is there anything in particular that motivates or inspires your books?

The letters and emails from my readers, and seeing my name on a new front cover of a book! It’s so inspiring to hear from readers that have been helped through hard times by being able to lose themselves in my books.

What is the hardest part of writing for you?

I joke that sometimes the Muse doesn’t visit me! Because I am not an author full time at the moment, working full time as a Marketing Manager during the day, I can sometimes get very creatively run down and it’s hard to create brilliant and sparkling writing for my books then. I have to be very disciplined, but if I really can’t do it, I don’t force it. There’s always tomorrow.

What is your favorite part?

Seeing the response from my readers when they love a new release!

If you had to choose one book for readers to pick up from your collection, which would it be and why?

If you love sweet romances, I would say my Sweet Grove Beginnings book 1, Love’s Journey. The series follows five siblings in 1840s Texas who are trying to rebuild their lives after individual misfortunes, and the romances they experience. If you love steamy romances, I would say Lost with a Lord which is the first book in my Ravishing Regencies series – short and sexy romances in Regency England!

Where can readers find your book?

I’m all over Amazon! The only series that is also available on iBooks, Nook, Kobo, and Google is Sweet Grove Beginnings.

Do you have any special offers or giveaways for new readers? If so, tell us more…

I always have a free book available, and right now that’s the first book in my sweet Seasons of Love series, A Springtide Meeting.

How can readers find you/connect with you?

Follow me on Amazon or BookBub, and connect with me on Facebook!

And there you have it. It was a great experience working with Emily to get this interview put together. I love to get to know different authors and feel that much more connected to their books. I hope you enjoyed it as well. Have you read Emily’s books yet? Which is your favorite?
